WUFPAC Endorsed Candidate, Julie Lassa, Secures the Democratic Nomination for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

A State Senator in Wisconsin, Julie Lassa secured the Democratic nomination in her quest to represent Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District.  A dynamic state legislator, Julie was highly recruited by national Democrats to seek the nomination in wake of Representative Obey’s retirement.

In the State Senate, Julie chairs the Committee on Economic Development and serves on the Committee on Children and Families and Workforce Development, Committee on Health, Health Insurance, Privacy, Property Tax Relief and Revenue, and the Joint Committee on Finance.  One of her most significant legislative accomplishments was sponsoring and ushering through the Wisconsin C.O.R.E. Jobs Act – an omnibus job creation package that was signed into law to help put Wisconsin back on the road to economic recovery.

“Once again we are seeing the pipeline at work.  As a successful state legislator, in both in the Assembly and Senate, Julie has proven she is savvy, hardworking, and a dynamic leader.  Cutting her teeth in state politics has prepared her for the next level – the U.S. House of Representatives,” WUFPAC President Katie Vlietstra said. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Julie be one of WUFPAC’s 2010 candidates.”

Jaime Herrera Wins & Happy Anniversary 19th Amendment

    Monday, August 23rd, 2010
Jaime Herrera, current State Representative, was one of the “top two” candidates in yesterday’s Washington State primary.  In Washington, regardless of party, the top two candidates advance to the general election.  Jaime will face Democrat Denny Heck.

Chuck Todd with MSNBC  ranked the Washington 3rd Congressional District as the number #1 race in the country!  With a strong, female candidate as one of the two candidates advancing to November, now doubt Jaime will be seen and heard across the country in the months leading up to the November election.

“Immediately upon hearing that Jaime was considering a run for this seat, we knew she would be an excellent, strong candidate and yesterday cemented her status as a “must watch” candidate.” stated WUFPAC President, Katie Vlietstra, “We are absolutely thrilled with Jaime’s victory and know she will be elected in November.  Best of all, Jaime is a strong role-model for women all over the country who are state elected officials who are considering a run for higher office–the experience Jaime has as a State Representative helped propel her to victory.  The pipeline is key!”

Please support Jaime’s general election race, by visiting her website and providing direct financial support to her endeavour.

Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment

On this day, WUFPAC would like to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment and honor all women who are currently or have served as an elected official on all levels: local, state, federal.  It is amazing to think that the right to vote to women had to be given through an act of a Constitutional Amendment and not a right provided by birth.  However, we applaud the many women and men, that supported the ratification of the 19th Amendment and remind all Americans that immense power associated with exercising your individual right to vote in each and every election.
